This afternoon, the Space for Young Creation hosted the awards ceremony for the competitions organized by Europe Direct C\u00e1ceres under the motto \u201cThe future of Europe\u201d, an initiative that seeks to encourage reflection, creativity and citizen participation around the values \u200b\u200band challenges of the European Union.<\/p>\n\n
The event was attended by the Councillor for Human Resources, Business and E-Administration, Emilio Borrega; the Councillor for Public Services and Strategic Funds, Pedro Muriel; the Councillor for Culture, Jorge Su\u00e1rez; and the Councillor for Youth, Jaime Jabato, in a meeting that brought together participants, family members and institutional representatives.<\/p>\n\n
During his speech, Emilio Borrega highlighted the importance of the European Union in the development of the city, underlining that \u201clarge projects that have been developed in the city of C\u00e1ceres have the seal of the European Union\u201d and that \u201cC\u00e1ceres would not be what it is today without those 40 years that we have been in Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
Borrega has also stressed the need to continue strengthening the link between the city and Europe, pointing out that “Europe also has to understand what we are like and what C\u00e1ceres is like”, and has shown his confidence in the cultural horizon of the city: “we hope that in the year 2031 we will be that European Capital of Culture that projects us more to Europe and that we know Europe much better.”<\/p>\n\n
Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n\n This year’s awards were given in the categories of short story, photography and comics, consolidating competitions that now total eighteen editions in short story, seventeen in photography and fifteen in comics.<\/p>\n\n In the XVIII Short Story Contest, the first prize, worth 1,000 euros, went to Alexis L\u00f3pez Vidal, from Valencia, for the work \u201cVert-de-gris (in reality, the lady is French)\u201d. The second prize, of 800 euros, went to David Mu\u00f1oz S\u00e1nchez, from Badajoz, for \u201cThe Last Man with Blue Eyes\u201d, while the third prize, of 500 euros, went to Ricardo Ojalvo Rebollo, from C\u00e1ceres. <\/p>\n\n In the XVII Photography Contest, the first prize, also worth 1,000 euros, went to Luis Cid Cabeza, from C\u00e1ceres, for \u201cEscena Digital\u201d. The second prize went to Jos\u00e9 Antonio Garc\u00eda Recuero, for \u201cDifferent Cultures\u201d, and the third to Pedro Javier Reig Delgado, for \u201cV\u00eda libre\u201d. <\/p>\n\n As for the XV Comic Contest, in the senior category, the first prize went to Jes\u00fas Garc\u00eda Plata, from Malpartida de C\u00e1ceres, for \u201cJosefa\u201d, while in the junior category the first prize went to Fernando G\u00f3mez Gonz\u00e1lez, from C\u00e1ceres, for \u201cSchumann\u2019s Dream\u201d.<\/p>\n\n With this initiative, Europe Direct C\u00e1ceres reaffirms its commitment to promoting culture, creativity and the construction of an active European citizenship, especially among the young population.<\/p>\n\n The ceremony featured the presentation by Sergio M\u00e1rquez Fern\u00e1ndez, the interpretation of the European Anthem by the group \u201cFunkin V\u201d and the initial intervention by the director of Europe Direct C\u00e1ceres, Rebeca Dom\u00ednguez Cidoncha.
