The Governing Council of the C\u00e1ceres 2031 Consortium has today learned of the latest progress of the candidacy for European Capital of Culture, which is entering its decisive phase with two major objectives for the coming weeks: to consolidate the European alliances linked to the project and to complete the second Bid Book, the definitive bid document.<\/p>\n\n
The project director, Iris Jugo, together with part of the C\u00e1ceres 2031 technical team, has presented to the Governing Council – chaired by the president of the Consortium and mayor of the city, Rafa Mateos – the status of the work and the calendar that will lead to the final decision. The candidacy thus moves from its construction stage to a phase of consolidation of programming, alliances and institutional support. <\/p>\n\n
One of the key advances reported to the Governing Council has been the growth of the European dimension of C\u00e1ceres 2031, which is already translating into concrete support, programming, and partnerships.<\/p>\n\n
The bid is currently working with some of the main European cultural networks and platforms. Thus, since the launch of the C\u00e1ceres 2031 project, the city has joined Culture Action Europe, A Soul for Europe, Eurocities, Culture Next and the European Festivals Association. This means, those responsible for C\u00e1ceres 2031 have explained, the opening of new opportunities and international connections for the city’s artists and cultural entities. <\/p>\n\n
The incorporation of C\u00e1ceres into these international spaces will continue in the coming weeks with an intense work agenda in different European cities. This international presence seeks to reinforce the European positioning of C\u00e1ceres and, at the same time, convert the relationships built in recent months into collaborations, projects and specific content for the 2031 programming. <\/p>\n\n
Work is simultaneously proceeding on the development of the cultural program\u2014currently comprising 40 projects within a schedule that is still being finalized, structured, and consolidated\u2014through open calls, engagement with local communities, co-creation, curatorial support, artistic commissions, European cooperation, and pilot projects.<\/p>\n\n
From the Bid Book to the final defense<\/strong><\/p>\n\n The second major block presented to the Governing Council has been the schedule for the preparation and defense of the second Bid Book, the official document with which C\u00e1ceres will attend the final phase of the selection process.<\/p>\n\n The document will be 100 pages long and must respond to the questions established in the BOE in areas such as strategy, programming, European dimension, participation, governance, financing, evaluation and legacy.<\/p>\n\n The established work schedule sets September 29 for the completion of the Spanish version and October 23 for the final English version. The official submission of the Bid Book will take place in October. <\/p>\n\n From then on the last stage of evaluation will begin. On November 23, the European panel in charge of evaluating the candidacy will visit C\u00e1ceres.
