  • El regidor ha recibido este martes a los más de 50 participantes del encuentro cultural internacional que se celebra esta semana en la ciudad en el marco de la candidatura de Cáceres 2031

The mayor of Cáceres, Rafa Mateos, welcomed the more than 50 participants of the Global Leaders Summit to the City Hall’s Plenary Hall this Tuesday. This international meeting brings together young leaders from different countries in the city as part of Cáceres’ bid to become the European Capital of Culture in 2031.

During the official ceremony, the mayor welcomed the attendees, highlighting the value of Cáceres as “a city that is not only heritage, but is able to combine that heritage and become a cutting-edge city.”

In his speech, the mayor encouraged the participants to become spokespeople for the city’s potential, stating that “from now on you will be ambassadors for the city of Cáceres,” inviting them to share their experience and spread the cultural, heritage and human values they have learned about during their stay.

“Cáceres is a city where we believe that culture is a transformative element of society,” Mateos insisted, presenting the delegation representatives with paintings of the Cáceres skyline.

Later, together with the Councillor for Culture, Jorge Suárez, and the coordinator of the Cáceres 2031 Consortium, Iris Jugo, the visit ended with a family photograph on the steps of the entrance to the town hall with the flag of Europe.

The Global Leaders Summit brings together individuals committed to leadership, innovation, and international cooperation, creating a space for the exchange of ideas and best practices. Holding this event in Cáceres reinforces the city’s position as a strategic hub for global dialogue and contemporary culture.

The Cáceres 2031 Consortium highly values the reception of international initiatives such as this, which contribute to strengthening the European dimension of the candidacy and projecting the city as a cultural and meeting point in Europe.
