Caceres seeks artist mediators to work with young people in the Generation 31 program

Cáceres’ bid for European Capital of Culture 2031 has launched a call for applications to select artist-mediators who will develop activities with young people within the framework of the Generación 31 program, an initiative that promotes youth participation in the city’s cultural development.

The call is aimed at creators from different disciplines -from performing arts and music to audiovisuals, visual arts, literature or performance- who are capable of designing one-hour artistic sessions aimed mainly at secondary school students. These activities will address themes linked to the Urban Agenda, such as sustainability, accessibility, coexistence, public space, and social innovation.

The objective, according to the organization, is not only to transmit content but to generate experiences that foster critical thinking, collective reflection, and the involvement of young people in the urban challenges of their environment.

Selection of artists

The selected artists will become part of a pool of mediators from which educational centers can request sessions between April and December 2026, in coordination with the bid’s team.

The call especially values experience in educational or community contexts, methodological clarity and the ability to mediate and communicate. Interested individuals must submit, among other materials, their resume, a conceptual activity proposal, a reflection on artistic mediation, and a short introductory video.

This is a paid activity once the artists are selected.

With this initiative, the Generación 31 program seeks to mobilize young people as protagonists of the city’s present and future, integrating art as a tool to think about and transform urban space.

To register and submit an application, it is necessary to access this link and fill in the required data before March 18: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/19gJBImApmru8ypH3yhDb8VHKqj5ItbQf5Aj7b1QDuwE

This call is connected to the Inter-center Educational Project “Aldealab, Young People Who Move,” developed jointly by IES El Brocense and the Cáceres City Council, through the Strategic Funds and Local Development Section.
