Cáceres 2031 celebrated Europe Day with the activity “The World of Words,” part of the WOMAD Festival. This event provided a space for storytelling and oral narratives from diverse cultural traditions, with a special focus on a European legend in honor of this important day.
Furthermore, this initiative has aligned with the values of Cáceres’ bid to become the European Capital of Culture in 2031, as it has been notable for its inclusive and intergenerational nature. Specifically, it was held at the Plaza Mayor Senior Center and included the participation of the Plaza Mayor Book Club; the Maltravieso School of Performing Arts; the Mansaborá Scout Group; and people with disabilities from the Hermanos de la Cruz Blanca center.
This meeting has been an invitation to listen and discover, bringing the public closer to stories passed down from generation to generation and highlighting the richness of oral tradition as an essential part of the spirit of the WOMAD Festival, in which culture is also shared through words and memory.
