Cáceres showcases its cultural potential to millions of viewers through a national television program

  • The city will be the protagonist this Wednesday of the Masters of Celebrity Sewing program
  • The Councilor for Tourism, Ángel Orgaz, highlighted that “the broadcast of this program joins other promotional actions that in recent years have positioned Cáceres as a reference cultural and inland tourism destination”

Cáceres will once again be in the national media spotlight thanks to the broadcast of a new episode of Maestros de la Costura Celebrity, which has chosen the Helga de Alvear Museum of Contemporary Art as the setting for one of its most outstanding challenges.

On Wednesday, August 12, at 10:50 p.m. on La 1 of TVE, the city will be the star of one of the most followed entertainment programs on Spanish Television, an opportunity to showcase to millions of viewers the cultural richness of Cáceres and the importance of one of its main museum spaces.

The Councillor for Tourism, Ángel Orgaz, highlighted that “it is excellent news that Cáceres is once again the protagonist of a program with a top national audience, because it represents an extraordinary promotion of the city and everything we are capable of offering to those who visit us.”

“The broadcast of this program joins other promotional actions that in recent years have placed Cáceres on television channels, media and platforms of national reach, helping to reinforce its positioning as a reference cultural and inland tourism destination,” he noted.

Furthermore, the councilor stressed that “the fact that the program has chosen the Helga de Alvear Museum demonstrates the prestige that this cultural space has achieved, becoming one of the great references of contemporary art in Spain and a differentiating element of our tourist offer.”

During the program, produced by Shine Iberia for RTVE, the contestants will develop a test inspired by contemporary art inside the Helga de Alvear Museum, where they will transform works by the artist Rosa Brun belonging to the center’s collection into fashion garments. The television space will also highlight the figure of Helga de Alvear and the importance that her legacy has had in placing Cáceres on the international map of contemporary art.

The recording, made in the city last January, will be part of the eighth week of the competition, which is now entering its final stretch. The outdoor challenge will take place entirely within the museum and will showcase both its facilities and part of its art collection.
