- Soledad Carrasco highlights the success of top-level programming promoted by the Cáceres City Council and the extraordinary response of the people of Cáceres
The first cycle of Monumental Cáceres concerts, promoted by the Cáceres City Council through the Department of Celebrations, has brought together a total of 26,500 people in its five concerts, consolidating emblematic spaces, such as the Plaza de Toros or the Plaza Mayor, into large cultural stages in the city.
This September, La Era de los Mártires hosted concerts by Raphael, La Flamenca, Pablo López and Vanesa Martín, with a total of 11,500 attendees and all of them sold out. Added to this are the 15,000 people who filled the Plaza Mayor on Saturday to enjoy the free concert by Rosario Flores, an artist who put the finishing touch to this first series of concerts.
The Councilor for Celebrations, Soledad Carrasco, has stressed that “the balance could not be more positive. This Government team decidedly opted for a top-level cultural offering and the response of the people of Cáceres has been extraordinary at each event.”
Likewise, Carrasco has highlighted the recovery of the bullring. “When we came to the Government we found a completely abandoned Bullring and we have managed to add value to it, giving it back its prominence.”
The mayor has also placed emphasis on civic behavior throughout the program and, especially, last night, with a full Plaza Mayor and a celebration that took place completely normally. In this sense, she highlighted the good functioning of the special Local Police device, which has made it possible to guarantee the security and normal development of a night in which 15,000 people enjoyed the Rosario Flores concert.
This first cycle has also been “the best possible birthday” to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Cáceres as a World Heritage City, bringing great cultural proposals to heritage spaces in the city.
“Cáceres is culture in capital letters and with this great cultural offer we have demonstrated it once again; also reaffirming our commitment to the great objective of being the European Capital of Culture in 2031,” she concluded.
