Cáceres 2031 ‘moves’ more than 200 people between 2 and 96 years old with a flashmob that fills the Plaza Mayor with dance and collective identity.

  • The candidacy has integrated in the same artistic proposal young people, students from educational centers, members of social groups and senior citizens.

The Cáceres 2031 candidacy celebrated this Sunday a great intergenerational participatory action that brought together more than 200 people in the Plaza Mayor of Cáceres, consolidating the project as a space for real citizen involvement on the road to the European Capital of Culture.

The choreographic flashmob, organized by Cáceres 2031 under the title‘Europe moves in Cáceres‘, has integrated in the same artistic proposal to young people, students from educational centers, members of social groups and seniors, reinforcing the community, intergenerational and transversal character of the candidacy.

The cast consisted of 84 members of the School of the Conservatory of Dance of Cáceres, 54 students from confirmed schools and about 90 people from groups of seniors and physical activity programs, exceeding a total of 220 participants, with ages ranging from 2 to 96 years and in collaboration with the program “Exercise takes care of you” of the Junta de Extremadura.

The choreography was based on the song “Extremadura”, performed live by the singer Shara Pablos, Ambassador of Cáceres 2031, who has granted the rights to use the song for this action linked to the project. An adapted remix version was prepared for the occasion, which facilitated the choreographic dynamics and collective participation.

The flashmob, also linked to the designation of Cáceres as European City of Sport in 2026, culminated with a human formation that recreated the silhouette of the Bujaco Tower, a symbol present in the visual identity of the candidacy, generating a powerful collective image that summarizes the spirit of the project: shared culture, participation and joint construction of the city.

The show has attracted the attention of locals and tourists and reinforces the commitment of Cáceres 2031 to activate the public space as a cultural stage and to place citizens – regardless of age – at the center of the process to achieve the title of European Capital of Culture.
