Arroyo de la Luz Town Council joins Cáceres’ bid for European Capital of Culture

Cáceres continues to gain support in its bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2031. Today, Arroyo de la Luz Town Council signed its support for the project.

In this way, 46 municipalities across Extremadura now back the Cáceres bid, representing 50% of the region’s population. It is therefore an initiative designed through political consensus and unity of action, to the extent that it is being promoted by Cáceres City Council, the Regional Government of Extremadura, and the provincial councils of Cáceres and Badajoz.

The Mayor of Arroyo de la Luz, Carlos Caro, has expressed his “full support” for the Cáceres 2031 project, which, he said, “has the backing of the entire province

and the entire region.”

For his part, the Councillor for Culture at Cáceres City Council, Jorge Suárez, thanked them for this support and recalled that this is an initiative that is not only local, but extends to the entire province and all of Extremadura, as shown both by the composition of the Cáceres 2031 Consortium and by the list of support gathered.
