The Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Cáceres has officially joined the candidacy of Cáceres as European Capital of Culture in 2031, in an event held this Tuesday and presided over by the mayor of Cáceres and president of the Cáceres European Capital of Culture 2031 Consortium, Rafael Mateos, and the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Gabriel Álvarez.
With this signing, the Chamber of Commerce shows its support for the cultural and city project that Cáceres 2031 represents, thus reinforcing the involvement of the business and economic fabric of the city and the province in a candidacy that seeks to become a collective and transformative project.
The mayor of Cáceres, Rafael Mateos, expressed his gratitude for the Chamber of Commerce’s commitment and emphasized the importance of forging strategic alliances to further solidify a candidacy “for the entire city.” Mateos noted that the support of the business sector is fundamental to building a robust, participatory proposal capable of generating opportunities and development for Cáceres and its surrounding area.
For his part, the president of the Cáceres Chamber of Commerce, Gabriel Álvarez, has stressed the importance of the business sector actively participating in a project that transcends the cultural sphere and that can become an engine of economic growth, revitalization and international projection for the city.

During the meeting, Mateos also addressed the upcoming milestones of Cáceres’ 2031 bid. These include the preparation and presentation of the final BidBook, the visit of a delegation from the committee of experts on November 23, and the presentation to the committee on November 30. The Spanish city chosen as the European Capital of Culture will be announced on December 3.
The Cáceres 2031 Consortium continues to work on gathering institutional, social and economic support with the aim of further strengthening an open, participatory candidacy aligned with European values of innovation, sustainability, inclusion and cultural cooperation.
