Cáceres 2031 will celebrate European Music Day with a free and family-friendly cultural proposal that will take place this Sunday, June 21, at the Ateneo de Cáceres. The day will offer two performances of a European music concert by the Alla Corda String Quartet, accompanied by a small snack for attendees.
The activity, presented by the Cáceres singer and songwriter Chloe Bird, seeks to bring European music to audiences of all ages through a participatory and close experience, framed in the values of coexistence, culture and citizenship promoted by Cáceres’ candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2031.
European repertoire
The program will feature a repertoire inspired by different European traditions and composers, with such renowned works as ‘Cinema Paradiso’ by Ennio Morricone, the ‘Hungarian Dance No. 5’ by Johannes Brahms, pieces from the ‘Romanian Dances’ by Béla Bartók, fragments of ‘Carmen’ by Georges Bizet, the ‘Ritual Dance of Fire’ by Manuel de Falla, Slavic dances by Antonín Dvořák and festive pieces by Johann Strauss.
The concert will have two passes. The first will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a small snack at 11:30 a.m. The second performance will take place at 12:00 p.m., with a new snack at 12:30 p.m. The end of the activity is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
In the words of Iris Jugo, general coordinator of the Cáceres 2031 Consortium, it will be “a very special day for the candidacy because it is part of those values of universal culture and participation regardless of age or knowledge.”
With this initiative, Cáceres 2031 continues to promote cultural activities open to citizens that encourage participation, access to culture and connection with European values through music.
