- 54 activities will be held, 15 more than the last edition, with prominence for the 40th anniversary as a World Heritage Site
The City Council of Cáceres, through the Department of Citizen Participation, Neighborhoods and Popular University, has presented a new edition of “Cáceres al Fresco 2.6. Summer district by district”, a program that will take place from June 19 to September 4 with a total of 54 activities spread across all districts of the city.
The councilor of the area, Jacobi Ceballos, presented today at a press conference all the programming for this edition and for this she was accompanied by the director of the Municipal Band, Fco. Javier Cortés Sánchez, and by José Borda from the company Animatx.
Ceballos highlighted that “Cáceres al Fresco has established itself as one of the most anticipated events of the summer and this year it does so, also, coinciding with a date as important as the 40th anniversary of the declaration of Cáceres as a World Heritage City.”
The program includes 24 Family Games workshops, three more than in the previous edition, with activities such as popular games, musical instrument workshops, creation of tote bags, keychains or musical quick games; in addition to 14 Family Heritage activities, a line reinforced this year on the occasion of the anniversary of the title of World Heritage and which will include proposals such as photographic rally, stained glass workshops, heraldry, medieval calligraphy, themed escape room or construction activities inspired by monuments of the city.
The program also incorporates environmental routes, two more than last year, with guided tours through different green areas of Cáceres, and the Music in the Neighborhoods cycle, organized together with the Department of Culture, which this summer will feature five concerts by the Municipal Band, one more than in the last edition.
The concerts will be held on June 26 at Parque Residencial Gredos, on July 3 in San Blas, on July 10 in Plaza de España (Santa Lucía), on July 17 at the Castellanos Macondo esplanade and on September 4 at Parque del Rodeo (San Francisco), with repertoires of pop, rock, soundtracks and recognizable music for all audiences.
Among the planned activities are events such as the inaugural environmental route on June 19 in the Parque del Príncipe at 9:00 p.m., Family Heritage workshops in spaces such as San Marquino, Espíritu Santo, Antonio Canales or Vía de la Plata, and Family Games in squares and parks in neighborhoods such as Aldea Moret, Nuevo Cáceres, Casa Plata, Vistahermosa, Valdesalor or Rincón de Ballesteros, with schedules that will take place mainly between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
The closing of the program will come on September 3 with a closing party at Parque Valhondo, starting at 7:00 p.m., with special activities and surprises for participants, while the last concert by the Municipal Band will put the final touch on September 4 in San Francisco.
Ceballos emphasized that “this program once again demonstrates that our neighborhoods are vibrant spaces, that summer in Cáceres can be synonymous with community, participation and enjoyment, and that we continue to be committed to offering quality leisure alternatives for those who visit us and for those who choose to stay in the city.”
