Cáceres 2031 Organises a Workshop in Almendralejo on securing European funding through the Erasmus+ program

  • It will be led by Jo Claeys, a specialist in European programs and cultural cooperation

Cáceres 2031 is organizing the workshop “Securing Funds through the Erasmus+ Program” this week in Almendralejo, on November 5th and 6th. This training initiative will be led by international expert Jo Claeys, a specialist in European programs and cultural cooperation. The workshop will be held at the San Antonio Cultural Center and aims to empower cultural, educational, social, and youth associations, as well as individuals interested in launching European projects from Extremadura, to take advantage of the funding opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ program.

During the two days, participants will learn firsthand how European programs can become a key tool for the economic and social transformation of a region, while also promoting community cohesion and coexistence. The workshop will cover both the origins of the program, its political and educational dimensions, the established priorities, and the different types of projects linked to financial co-financing, as well as a practical approach to organizing local projects with real impact.

As Jo Claeys explains, “The ‘system’ doesn’t teach what the ‘system’ itself can change. However, Erasmus+ offers a wide range of tools and project types that allow us to drive this positive change, especially at the local and regional levels.” Far from being limited to traditional student exchanges, Erasmus+ has specific programs geared towards developing local projects, which are easy to implement once their mechanisms are understood.

Through games, participatory activities, and inspiring examples of projects already implemented in other European countries, participants will learn how the Erasmus+ program works and what opportunities it offers, how to build solid and sustainable international projects, what mistakes to avoid, and how to submit a strong funding application, as well as how to create an impact in communities through culture, education, and youth initiatives. The training combines practical activities, discussions, educational resources, and guidance on funding, and includes interactive storytelling, practical exercises, case studies, tips and tricks, group work, and guidance on finding international partners.

Attendance at this workshop is free until capacity is reached and will take place on Wednesday, November 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Thursday, November 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
