Cáceres 2031 will create a large collective garden this Friday with the plants from Poliniza

  • The planting of the species that have been cared for by the citizens during the last few months will proceed

The participatory initiative ‘Pollinize Cáceres 2031’ will hold a new collective activity this Friday in which the species (rosemary, lavender and thyme) that have been cared for by the residents of the city during the last months will be planted.

The activity will take place at 10:00 a.m. in the garden located in front of the Valhondo parking lot, in the San Blas neighborhood, where the participants will meet to return the plants they received at the end of last year and contribute to the creation of a new shared green space with pollinating plants.

Culture of care and the environment

The action is part of the Poliniza Cáceres 2031 project, an initiative that seeks to involve citizens in caring for the urban environment through small gestures that, added together, generate a positive impact on the city. After several months of care in homes, schools, associations, and other spaces, the plants are now returning to the public space to participate in a collective planting.

This initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the University of Extremadura and the European university alliance EU GREEN, which have participated in its design and monitoring. The collaboration has been coordinated by Professor Jesús Díaz, whose involvement has helped strengthen the educational, environmental, and participatory aspects of the project.

Cáceres 2031 encourages all participants to attend this final day, conceived as a citizen gathering that symbolizes the shared commitment to sustainability, biodiversity and the collective construction of a greener city.

Those who cannot attend the planting can hand in their plants the day before at the Palacio de la Isla, where they will be collected to be incorporated later into the planned performance in San Blas.

With this initiative, Cáceres 2031 continues to promote participatory projects that encourage the direct involvement of citizens in the transformation and improvement of the city’s common spaces.
