Cáceres 2031 will participate this weekend in the Heritage Nights with its own programming that will combine music, European cooperation, contemporary creation and participatory proposals in different parts of the city.
One of the main protagonists will be Évora 2027, European Capital of Culture, which will have its own space at the Ateneo de Cáceres during both days. Their presence will allow the Cáceres public to bring the cultural project of the Portuguese city closer to the public and strengthen the links between two nearby territories that share heritage, landscape and numerous cultural and social challenges.
The first day will feature the presentation of Évora 2027 and several of its heritage-related projects, alongside a performance by the Grupo de Cantares de Évora, presenting a repertoire prepared specifically for the occasion. On the 12th, the program will focus on contemporary creative work from the Alentejo region, featuring concerts and musical performances by artists such as Helena Caldeira, Puçanga, and LAZ HAY, who will bring diverse sounds from the current Portuguese scene to Cáceres. Attendees will also be able to explore the landscapes of the Alentejo and the concept of *Vagar* through virtual reality experiences.
Évora’s participation has a special meaning for Cáceres 2031. The Portuguese city will be the European Capital of Culture in just a few months and its presence in Cáceres represents a new opportunity to generate connections and share experiences on the path of the Cáceres candidacy towards 2031.
Cáceres 2031 reaches out to the public
During the two nights, the candidacy will also display several proposals designed to get closer to neighbors and visitors. Among the most visible will be the Transcultura Space, located under the Tourism Information Office of the Plaza Mayor, with a small pen with sheep, a photocall and a photographic proposal to interact with the public.
The sheep will also be at the origin of Ovejas Perdidas, an itinerant and participatory action that will tour the heritage environment of the city led by two actors and that will invite the public to join a game in cluedo format. This will be joined by the projections of Cáceres 2031, which will bring the identity and messages of the candidacy to the public space during both nights.
The Ateneo will also house a recording set from which Cáceres 2031 will collect the voices of artists, guests and participants during the conference.
The international programming is completed on September 12 with the participation of KOR’SIA, which will take Jogler to the Balbos Forum as part of the IX Escena Heritage Festival, starting at 9:00 p.m. Although this company resides in Madrid, it has a strong presence of Italian artists and their presence comes with the support of the Italian Embassy.
A mural that opens up to the city
The activities taking place over these days will be preceded by an event organized at the Cáceres Chamber of Commerce this Thursday, featuring a musical contribution from Cáceres 2031. Coinciding with the “Heritage Nights” (Noches del Patrimonio), the Chamber’s mural will be open to the public on the nights of September 11 and 12, joining the invitation to rediscover the city’s spaces and heritage.
With this programming, Cáceres 2031 once again takes advantage of one of the city’s major cultural meetings to make visible a candidacy that is already developing European projects and connections, and to bring its proposal closer to citizens through participation, creation and meeting.
