Cáceres 2031, in collaboration with the Fundación Contemporánea, has closed the Periscopio Cáceres ‘Cultura Participativa’ meeting this weekend with success among the cultural agents and young creators participating, in a meeting that has served to weave more than 200 cultural connections and promote a collective reflection on the city project on the road to the title of European Capital of Culture.
The two days, held on Friday and Saturday at the Ateneo de Cáceres, were dedicated to training, professional exchange and the active involvement of young creators in the construction of the cultural future of the city.
In fact, one of the most valued activities has been ‘Caceres Immersion’, developed on Saturday morning and consisted of a guided tour through different parts of the city with the aim of observing its heritage, its community spaces and its cultural life from a renewed look.
During this visit, the participants were able to identify needs, opportunities and possible focal points for cultural intervention, integrating the urban experience in their subsequent collective reflections and confronting the usual vision of Cáceres with contemporary readings related to participation, territory and cultural identity.
The day continued with more educational and collaborative workshops, as well as a meeting with Pamela Calsow, cultural manager of Corporación Amigos de Panguipulli. The meeting concluded with a final session of collective creation, in which the participants shared the learning of these two days and developed common proposals to enrich the candidacy of Cáceres 2031.
“Periscopio Cáceres has served to activate new voices and encourage contact between young cultural agents, established professionals and citizens interested in the cultural development of the city,” said Iris Jugo, general coordinator of the Cáceres 2031 Consortium.
For her part, Begoña Aguirre, general coordinator of Periscopio, said that the meeting was “something magical with the connections of local agents from here, from Cáceres, from Extremadura, and with the international ones”. “Cáceres 2031 is a strong construction, which is building a very firm path. We must take pride in the cultural projects and the solid foundations that are being built now,” he added.
The candidacy thus continues the dialogue between different actors of the territory, urban and rural, and between generations to consolidate its path towards the title of European Capital of Culture in 2031.
