Until July 10, the Palacio de la Isla hosts the exhibition of the award-winning and finalist works of the VII “Juan Rosco” International Visual Poetry Contest, organized by the IES Al-Qázeres, and which has the collaboration of the Cáceres City Council. Within the framework of the contest, the exhibition “Juan Rosco among friends” has also been organized, which can also be visited there.
The Councilor for Culture, Jorge Suárez, has highlighted “the work carried out by the IES Al-Qázeres with this contest, which pays tribute to one of the best visual poets in our country. And a contest that has already been consolidated as evidenced by the quality of the works presented.”
“I encourage the people of Cáceres to visit the Palacio de la Isla, the Casa de Cultura de Cáceres, to see these exhibitions that bring us closer to the figure of Juan Rosco, who was closely linked to our city, and to visual poetry. It is a form of artistic expression that will surprise and move us.”
As for the contest, as indicated by the IES Al-Qázeres, “it reaches its seventh edition, a figure that gives us the certainty that the seed planted at the IES Al-Qázeres has taken deep root, connecting established creators, the enthusiasm and modesty of amateur artists and the disarming honesty of the students.”

On the other hand, “Juan Rosco among friends” was born with the fundamental purpose of preserving and keeping alive the artistic legacy of Juan Rosco in the educational context that gave meaning to his work, in order to pay a heartfelt tribute to his figure, highlighting creativity as an essential axis of education and its transformative power to combat injustice and build a better world.
It offers an intimate and collective look through a selection of works donated by Rosco’s family, pieces by visual poets close to the author and a sample of the award-winning and finalist works from previous editions of the contest.
The participating artists are: Antonio Gómez, Antonio Monterroso, Juan Manuel Barrado, Fran Caballero, Emilio Oliva, Olga Martín, Hilario Bravo, Miguel Ángel Lama, Manuel Castuera, Jesús Vázquez, Joaquín Gómez, José Juan Martínez, Charles Canals, Ramón Peña Oliver, Mikel Jauregui, Juan Fran Núñez, Alfonso Aguado and Joaquín González.
