Cáceres 2031 receives support from the Extremadura Orchestra

  • The Board of Trustees of the Extremadura Orchestra Foundation has unanimously endorsed the project and expressed its willingness to participate in the journey towards becoming the European Capital of Culture

The Extremadura Orchestra reaffirmed its support this Tuesday for Cáceres’ bid to become the European Capital of Culture in 2031, during a meeting between the Mayor of Cáceres and President of the Cáceres 2031 Consortium, Rafa Mateos, and the Managing Director of the Extremadura Orchestra Foundation, Hae Won Oh.

The meeting has served to reaffirm the institution’s commitment to the project and advance possible avenues of collaboration on the path to 2031, especially through music and initiatives aimed at children and young people.

Mateos has thanked this support and has highlighted the importance of having one of the most representative cultural institutions in Extremadura on this path. The mayor has also highlighted the role that music plays in the region and in the city of Cáceres and its ability to be an active part of the construction of the candidacy.

This support also has the unanimous backing of the Board of Trustees of the Orquesta de Extremadura Foundation, which has agreed to join the Cáceres 2031 project.

For her part, Hae Won Oh noted that the Foundation wishes to go beyond mere institutional endorsement and actively participate in developing initiatives linked to the bid. “We want to participate in and support this bid through the Extremadura Orchestra, as well as through our educational projects and the Youth Orchestra,” she explained.

This willingness to collaborate opens the door to developing initiatives centered on music, education, and the participation of new generations, connecting the work already being carried out by the Extremadura Orchestra Foundation with the goals of Cáceres 2031.

The support of the Extremadura Orchestra adds to the support that the bid continues to receive from institutions, entities and cultural agents throughout Extremadura, reinforcing the regional and shared nature of the project.
