The Regulatory Council of the Torta del Casar Designation of Origin signed its support manifesto for the Cáceres European Capital of Culture 2031 bid this Wednesday.
“Cáceres meets all the criteria to become the European Capital of Culture, and we want to participate by contributing our gastronomic side. And we want to remind everyone that Cáceres is the territory of the Torta del Casar,” emphasized Ángel Juan Pacheco, representing the Torta del Casar Protected Designation of Origin.
For his part, the city’s mayor, Rafa Mateos, thanked all the workers of the Torta del Casar PDO, the farmers, and the cheese makers for their willingness to support the European cultural bid. “This is not just a city project. It originated in Cáceres, but also involves all of Extremadura,” he recalled.
“We are achieving our initial objective, which is that Extremaduran society, regardless of political acronyms, feels identified with the project,” the mayor concluded.
