The art installation “On Blank Pages” has concluded with a very positive outcome, with thousands of people joining this Cáceres 2031 initiative over the weekend. The event transformed Plaza de Santa María, in the heart of the Old Town, into a space for meeting and creative reflection, achieving both high participation and critical acclaim.
Despite the threat of rain, the installation attracted numerous residents and visitors, who were able to enjoy an immersive and poetic open-air art experience. “On Blank Pages” invited attendees to leave their written or visual mark, transforming the historic space into a collective canvas where words and imagination took center stage.
The installation is part of the Cáceres 2031 program of activities, which aims to bring contemporary art closer to the city’s urban heritage and foster citizen participation in the cultural transformation process leading up to its bid to become a European Capital of Culture.
The public particularly appreciated the integration of the artwork with the monumental surroundings and the atmosphere of community and creativity that was generated throughout the weekend. The organizers highlighted the public’s engagement and the warm reception of this artistic initiative, which “demonstrates Cáceres’ capacity to engage in dialogue between its past and its future through culture.”
The notebooks will now travel to various cities that have been chosen as European Capitals of Culture, thus building bridges between Cáceres and the rest of the continent.
Cáceres 2031 continues to consolidate an open and participatory program, in which art becomes a tool for unity, inspiration, and community building.
